The mission of Angel Community Outreach program is to support the goal of No More Homeless Pets in Michigan by providing spay/neuter services, wellness services, free food to enable owners to keep their pets.  We are one of the few programs in the country that does outreach to Pit Bull owners (the breed most often guaranteed to be put to sleep in shelters since they are the hardest to adopt) and even more unique - that we are successful at it!!!

We make a huge difference every time we are able to connect with an owner and enable them to spay/neuter their dog, especially Pit Bulls. We believe our program is unique and we are extremely proud to be able to reach out - we can only continue to do this with your support!

We outreach in the community by:

  • Developing relationships in the community in order to identify needy pets.
  • Talking to owners to gain their trust and respect so that we can productively help their pets
  • Providing subsidy assistance to owners who cannot afford to spay/neuter their pets
  • Transportation assistance for pets to and from the spay/neuter clinic
  • Distributing dog houses so that dogs may stay warm in the winter and relief from the sun in the summer
  • Distributing dog and cat food to owners who cannot afford to feed their pets
  • Water and straw patrol – providing water and straw to outdoor pets when the weather becomes life threatening
  • Providing wellness services, such as vaccines, to keep pets healthy
  • Education outreach –
o   One on one education of owners about spay/neuter and pet health
o   Educate the public on being responsible pet owners
o   Presentations to schools, working with kids to develop respect for animals - read more about the latest presentation!

All of this is wonderful but we need volunteers to assist - so call us at 586-435-1745, 248-212-0781 or email us if you are interested in helping!

John and Samson

Pictured below is John - one of our best volunteers and Samson. Samson was dumped off the day of the picture. The owner decided that Samson was getting too big and had to go. Luckily John was there to take Samson so he wouldn't end up in the wrong hands. Sadly, the area is well known for pit bull fighting and Samson's story might have been a sad one. Update - Samson has been adopted to a great family!
