Happy Tales!

Darla now Diana -Darla was part of the raid in Sterling Heights where the owner has plead guilty to animal cruelty. She was so terrified and sick, they had to carry her out of her cage. Darla was pregnant and in very bad shape, she lost most of her puppies and had problems trusting people. Darla is now in a wonderful loving home where they are continuing to work with her and her new name is Diana!

Before - skinny and terrified

After - happy and running through the yard :)

Zoey - Zoey was found in a parking lot of a drugstore, unable to gather up much energy to walk. Turns out she had a horrible skin infection that made it painful for her to walk and in the pain, she didn't want to eat much either. Our wonderful vet got her on some antibotics and with a lot of love, Zoey almost magically transformed into a new dog. She is in a great home now and is happy with her new toys and yard!

Twinkle aka Miss No Toes - we got a call about a kitty that appeared to have had her toes cut off.  We aren't sure what happened, but we do know the poor baby is malnourished, needed surgery to fix her little paws and needs lots of TLC to get better!  Turns out that Twinkle's hips had been broken, she weighed only 4 pounds and had been eating dirt to try to get nourishment.

Surgery was performed on her toes and hips, she spent months in the hospital recovering and getting special treatment.  Her caregiver fell in love with her and now Twinkle is ruling the vet office :)   Fresh shrimp and salmon is offered daily and she gets a new bed almost weekly.   Her new mom's face absolutely GLOWS whenever she looks at Twinkle and the biggest smile comes across her face when talking about Twinkle.  We know that Twinkle will be very well taken care of, there could be no better owners!

Thank you to everyone for all your support, Twinkle really appreciates it!

Isabella

Meet Isabella, a 2 week old kitten, who was dropped at our doorstep.  Isabella was very hungry and getting weaker by the minute, she needed lots of help!  This is no easy task.  Isabella required feeding every 2-3 hours around the clock and help with going potty, cleaning, vet check ups - it is very daunting!  Unfortunately,   it is also very expensive!

Hero to the rescue!

Tommy, one of our youngest volunteers, stepped in immediately to the enormous task of bottle feeding.  Isabella is doing well and has perked tommyup quite a bit under Tommy's tender care.  She has a long road  ahead of her.  Kittens can become ill very suddenly and die within hours without proper medical care.

Update 10/22/06 - Izzy has grown and is eating but her digestive system isn't absorbing the nutrients like it should.  The picture with her in the purple shows that her hair is very rough and she is very thin.

Update - 1/7/06 - Izzy had a few rough patches, but with some additional medical care, she is much improved.  The outlook is bright for Izzy now and she has been adopted!  We are extremely excited for her!
