Who should attend?

Anyone interested in learning how to help free roaming cats and those who would like to gain access to the benefits of our TNR program. We will cover how to trap, the tricks and tips of trapping, how to manage a colony, the proper nutrition and medical care needed, and be available to answer your questions.

Shelter Building Event:

February 12, 2012 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Follows the TNR class. Bring supplies and build a shelter! Keep kitty warm and dry in the winter. This is essential to their wellbeing. Shelters are mandatory if spay/neutering ferals in the winter. After being shaved for surgery, the kitty will need warm shelter while their hair grows back.

Shelter building Supplies:

  • Nashua aluminum foil multipurpose tape - Found at Home Depot in the dryer, duct work department ($7)
  • Large styrofoam cooler boxes - Just like fish shipment boxes or used for medicines to be shipped to hospitals. Check with your large chain pet shops, grocery stores, veterinary hospitals and human hospitals.
  • In lieu of Styrofoam coolers, heavy duty plastic storage tubs: two heavy duty storage bins that fit inside of each other with plenty of room for insulation between the two (on all sides and the top). Smaller of the two should be at least an 18 gallon. Outer container preferably should be Rubbermaid – won’t crack in cold weather.
  • Straw (not hay)
  • Reflectix mylar insulation - Found at Lowes/Home Depot in the insulation department.

Occasionally we have mylar insulation and straw available for your usage at the clinic.

How do I register for Shelter Building?

Please send us an email at tnr@allaboutanimalsrescue.org and let us know your name, phone number and address. Please reference shelter building workshop and the class date in your email.
